2016 Show of Fitness!

July 25th - August 5th

Welcome to the 2016 Show of Fitness! Have fun testing yourself with the 7 events below! 6 can be performed indoors and all are safe (and challenging) for all levels of fitness! Try one or all!

  • If you participate in 5 of 7 events, you will be eligible for overall scoring.
  • Fitness staff will be on hand to measure your attempts!
  • Participate in 3 events and recieve a cool Show of Fitness t-shirt!
  • Participate in 7 events and earn 75 local activity points!


Timed Hang:Grip Parallel bar and hang with feet suspended from the floor with arms extended. Sustain hold for as long as possible.





The Dead Hang


Lightning Press:5 minutes time limit. 45 lbs bar for males with hands no wider than the index finger on the ring of the bar. 30 lbs for the ladies with hands no wider than tape mark. Must touch chest. Arms lock out at top. No resting on the chest or racking. FC Staff will be monitoring and have final say.



Wall sit for time: Stand with back flat against the wall and your feet about 1-2 feet away from the wall. Hold your arms out straight with shoulders against the wall. Bend at the knees and lower yourself down until your thighs are parallel with the ground and you have a 90 degree angle at the knees. Hold as long as possible.

How to Become A Wall Sit Master


Plank for time.Lie prone on mat.Place forearms on mat, elbows under shoulders Place legs together with forefeet on floor. Raise body upward by straightening body. Hold as long as you possibly can.

The 5 Minute Plank

1 Mile Run: Done outside on a 1 mile route around the campus. Member records best time at front desk on score sheet. This will be on honor system. Be sure to properly hydrate before hand and during. This event can be attempted more than once. Please only record best time. sof_mile
The Stork Test: Remove shoes and place the hands on the hips, then position the non-supporting foot against the inside knee of the supporting leg. The subject is given one minute to practice the balance. The subject raises the heel to balance on the ball of the foot. The stopwatch is started as the heel is raised from the floor. The stopwatch is stopped if any of the follow occur:
  • the hand(s) come off the hips
  • the supporting foot swivels or moves (hops) in any direction
  • the non-supporting foot loses contact with the knee.
  • the heel of the supporting foot touches the floor.

500 Meter Row: Row 500 meters on the rowing machine as quickly as possible. Record time on score sheet at the fron desk. This event is on the honor system and can be attempted more than once. Please only record best time.
